Author’s POV

(Year: 2012)

A young couple was sitting inside the cafeteria of their university, spending some time with each other while studying and finishing up their food.

“Eat slowly, you still have fifteen minutes to finish.” The boy said looking at the girl who gave him a sheepish smile.

“I have to revise the lesson one more time.” The girl said while taking another bite of the sandwich, and the boy just shook his head with a smile.

“You are going to do great on the test, you have been studying so hard for the past few days. Now stop overthinking and believe in yourself.” The boy said while taking her notes in his hands.

“You finish your food calmly, and then I’ll ask you some questions from the lesson. This way you will be sure that you know everything.” The boy said, making the girl smile at him.

“You know, you are the best.” The girl said while admiring him, making the boy smile and blush.

“OMG, are you blushing?” The girl spoke looking at the boy.

“No, I’m not and aren’t you getting late now. You only have 7 mins left.” The boy said changing the topic.

Soon after the revision was done, the boy dropped the girl in front of her class.

“I know you will do great, just believe in yourself. And by any reason if it doesn’t go the same way, then don’t lose hope and don’t pressure yourself so much.” The boy said smilingly and pulled out a chocolate from his bag, making the girl smile widely at him.

“I know, no matter how nervous you are, this chocolate always lifts up your mood.” The boy said and gave her the chocolate.

“Alright, I‘ll leave now. All the best once again. I’ll see you after classes” The boy said and pulled her chubby cheeks lovingly before leaving towards his class, which was in a different department of the university.

After a few hours, both met each other close to the entrance gate of the campus, but the place was quiet hidden from everyone one’s view because of a huge tree.

“So how was your test?” The boy asked while the girl smiled.

“All the questions were well known to me except one but I’m pretty sure that I did amazing. Thank you so much for bearing with me from the past few days.” She said while hugging him before making sure there were no unnecessary people around.

“How many times have I told you not to say thanks to me? I’m doing it of my own will, so I really don’t want you to say thanks to me repeatedly.” He said and pulled her cheeks, which is for sure his most favorite thing to do.

“And how many times, I have to say not to pull my checks?” The girl said while putting her hands on each side of her cheek. Meanwhile, the boy just laughed looking at her cute face.

“Now what can I do? I love this person as well as this precious person’s cheeks too.” The boy said, making the girl blush.

“Shameless creature, what if someone heard you.” The girl said, lightly hitting him on his chest, who just shrugged his shoulders in response.

“Okay, let me drop you till the bus stop.” He said while she nodded her head.

Both started moving towards the entrance gate. As soon as they stepped near the parking lot, the girl got shocked and started shivering looking at the face in front of her. The boy noticed the girl’s gaze and looked in that direction only to see a man in front, probably in his 40’s.

“B-baba” the word slipped out of the girl’s mouth while the boy got shocked knowing very well how scared his girlfriend is from her own father.

The man came near the couple while glaring at them. “Get in the car.” The man spoke in a hard voice looking at the girl, who just nodded in response while slowly moving towards her father’s car with teary eyes.

“Sir -“ the boy was about to say something when the man lifted his palm, preventing him from speaking anything further.

The man dragged the girl out of his car, while she was continuously crying and screaming.

He pushed her on the ground as soon as he entered the house. The girl’s mother and other relatives reached the scene after hearing the crying sound.

Her older cousin brother was about to go to help her when his mother stopped him while holding his hand and glared at him.

“Chup chap yahi khada reh, aur koi jaa raha hai Kya madad karne uski, jo tujhe Jana hai” His mother whispered to him and looked at other relatives and cousins who were just looking at the scene unfolding in front of their eyes.

(Stand here quietly, is anyone else going there to help her that you want to go)

He tightly closed his eyes, getting frustrated, he is the only one in the family who has a good bond with the girl.

Despite being told not to, he went there and helped his cousin sister to stand up.

“What happened bade papa, why are you behaving like this with her?” He said and the man just glared at him and looked at his younger brother, signaling him.

His younger brother came there, and took his son’s hand, taking him a little away from there.

“Stand still here, and do not interfere.” The man told his son and stood next to him.

“Hath se nikal gayi hai tumhari ladki. Shadi ki tayari karwani shuru karo, isse pehle yeh manhoos mera muh Kala kare sabke samne.” The girl’s father said and explained everything while looking at his wife while gritting his teeth.

(This girl has gone out of our hands. Start preparing for her wedding, before this bad luck tarnishes my reputation in front of the whole world)

The mother slapped her daughter in front of the whole family. Some were shocked while others were enjoying the drama.

“Badi maa” the girl’s cousin brother went back near the girl and hugged her, who was completely shocked witnessing her father’s harsh words and mother’s reaction.

“Kal shaadi hai iski, tayari shuru karo.” The man said before walking away from there.

(Tomorrow is her marriage, start preparing)

“Maa, baba ko samjhaye na please, aisa mat karo mere sath. Bhai please aap baat kariye na, baba apki baat sunte hai na.” The girl said pleadingly while everyone left from there including her mother. Only her cousin brother was still there whose eyes were completely moist looking at her sister’s tears.

(Maa, please talk with baba, don’t do this with me. Bhai, baba always listens to you, please talk to him.)

“I will talk with him, now go to your room and wash your face.” Her brother said while wiping her tears.

……..

“Bade papa, why are you doing this with her? I promise she will not meet that boy again.”

“It’s only because of your requests that I allowed her to study further. Otherwise she would have been married till now. Don’t ask me to postpone this wedding because I have already fixed her relationship with someone, this wedding will take place tomorrow no matter what.” The man said before leaving the room.

(Next morning)

The preparations for the wedding were being made while the girl was sitting on her bed being completely broken. She was not able to contact her boyfriend since her phone was not with her from yesterday.

On the other hand the boy was completely restless since the girl’s phone was switched off. He decided to go to her house and talk to her parents.

He took out his bike, and left for the girl’s house. In a few hours, he reached the place where the girl’s house was situated. But since it was a rural area, he was having some problems finding the exact house.

He asked a kid who was playing nearby along with other kids. The kid pointed at the house which was completely decorated, he was feeling a little uneasy but ignoring it, he went in the direction of the house.

He went inside the house and spotted her father, who was sitting on the couch while talking to someone on his phone.

As soon as he noticed the same boy from yesterday, he hung up the phone and stood up from the couch with angered filled eyes.

“What the hell are you doing in my house?” The man roared, making the whole family gathered up in the living room.

“Sir, I just wanted to talk to you abou-” The boy was stopped mid way when the man held his collar while glaring at him.

“Whoever you are, get out of my house right now, that girl is getting married today so don’t you dare to interfere in my family matters.” The man said in a harsh tone and signaled a few of his men to hold the boy.

“Sir, please don’t get her married. If you want I will never come near her, but please don’t get her married. She is too young for that, right now she wants to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. Please don’t take it away from her. I will leave the city if you want, but don’t spoil her life because of me.” The boy pleaded while the girl came out of her room hearing a familiar voice which she loves a lot.

His attention went upstairs to where her love was standing with moist eyes. He slightly shook his head, indicating her not to cry. When her father’s attention went towards their interaction, he kicked the boy on his stomach, making him fall on the ground. 

Looking at the scene, the girl ran downstairs, but was stopped in the middle when her mother held her hand tightly, not letting her go. 

“Take him away and kill him, I shouldn’t see his face after today.” The man said while the boy was trying to free himself. 

“Please baba, don’t kill him.” The girl pleaded while the boy was taken away.

She ran to her father after slightly pushing her mother in order to free herself. She fell on the ground near her father’s feet and said, “ I will marry whomever you ask me to, but please don’t do anything to him.”

“You don’t have a choice, you will have to marry the person I have chosen for you. Take her away and get her ready.” The man first said to his daughter, then later turned to his wife saying the end part.

Her mother forcefully took her back into the room and locked the room from outside before asking her to get ready in the bridal attire.

Her cousin brother , who was witnessing the whole drama, waited for his aunt to leave so that he could go inside the room and talk to his sister.

As soon as the woman was out of his sight, he opened the door and went inside the room.

“Bhai, please save him. Don’t worry about me, I will find a way out of here. But please do something and save him. I don’t want anything to happen to him because of me.” the girl pleaded to her brother.

“I can't just leave you all alone here” Her brother said

“No bhai, please understand you have to go. Please save him or else I will never be able to forgive myself that because of me something happened to the person who is my love.” She said while crying 

“Nothing will happen to him, and I will be back soon to save you.” her brother said and left the room.

When her brother left the room, her father was standing below the stairs witnessing the whole thing. He took out his phone and called someone.

“He just left the house, make sure he doesn’t get back home before the wedding is over. And make sure that there isn’t even a single scratch on my nephew, or else I will kill all of you.”

“Yes, boss” the person from the other side said before hanging up the phone.

“No one will be able to stop this marriage.” Her father said before leaving.
